President's Welcome

On behalf of the Officer’s and Staff of Local 2009 I want welcome you to our new Website.

It's an honour to be President of Local 2009 of the United Steelworker. Since the merger of Local 1-3567 and Local 2952, we have built a stronger, more effective local union, one that has seen increased involvement and a more active membership.

United Steelworkers Local 2009 is committed to the servicing and education of our members. The site has an Events Calendar which will highlight the important dates of each month. You will see our Local has education seminars planned throughout the year for our unit committees. Please contact your Servicing Representative if you are interested in enrolling in any of the courses offered.

The Local has an active Women’s Committee, Education and Organizing Committee as well as a Safety Council. Again, please contact your Servicing Representative if you are interested in joining these committees.

We are also committed to growing our Union through organizing non-union sites. If you know of a work place that needs a Union talk to us. All communication is strictly confidential.
